Did the movie Hostel give people false perceptions of Slovakia?

Or was it just Slovaks being over-sensitive? Some say the effect Hostel had on Slovakia is similar to how Kazakhstan is now commonly perceived due to Borat.





The truth of the matter is, the situation Hostel highlights is far more likely to happen in the US than it is in Eastern Europe.Did the movie Hostel give people false perceptions of Slovakia?
